The Depravity of our sinful nature and of our sinful hearts is unfathomable.
Our sinful nature is completely and totally corrupted. The sinful nature is never eradicated in our lives. Our sinful nature is evil, wicked, rebellious and vile. Our sinful nature is completely and totally rebellious towards God, His Word, his ways, character, nature, and person. No human being truly understands how wicked and evil their hearts really are. All our five senses (Your sight, your hearing, your taste, your touch, your smell) have been infected and corrupted by sin. Read the whole chapter of Romans 7 for proof of this. We are great sinners this is true but here's the good news, Jesus The Holy Son of God is a greater Savior! Gods got more love and grace than we have sin (Romans 5:20)! And all of God's grace and love is all for you dear reader. Even though our sins are indeed big Jesus Christ is bigger. And even though our sins be as scarlet Jesus can wash them all away whiter than snow (Isaiah 1:18) (John 1:29-36).
You must understand that the whole world is hopeless, helpless, and guilty of sin before a Holy God. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and the bible teaches us that because we are all sinners who have sinned against God, now no one is righteous no not one (Romans 3:10)! Because we are all sinners who have all fallen short of the glory of God now, we are completely and totally at the mercy of God. No sinner has the right to boast before a Holy perfect God about anything and this is because he is (1st.) a created being, (2nd.) he is exceedingly sinful at that, (3rd.) and he cannot even save himself! So, what is there to boast about? Now If God doesn't intervene in your life to save you through His Son Jesus you would justly spend an eternity in the lake of fire forever for your sins! Think about that. Let that soak into your mind for a bit. Let me say this again. If God had not intervened in your life through Christ Jesus His Son God would never forgive you of your sins apart from Christ (Hebrews 9:22) (Ephesians 1:7)! The voluntary selfless sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for you shows just how much Jesus truly loves you dear reader and He loves you oh so very much! Look at the proof of this in the word of God that's displayed here below for you.
Romans 5:6-11 (KJV)
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
1 John 4:9-10
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
We need the grace of God way more than we realize. Yes, we all need the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on that cross way more than we realize. This is because Jesus did not die on the cross for good people. He died on the cross the bible says for the ungodly (Romans 5:6).
Romans 5:6 (KJV)
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
That's you and me. Yes, we are ungodly before we come to Christ. Christ died for the hopeless, helpless, and guilty. Christ died for wicked human beings, He died for evil, rebellious, and vile sinners. Again, I say, Christ Jesus the sinless Son of God died for the ungodly people of the world and Christ graciously paid your sin debt in full by his one - time voluntary sacrifice on the cross for you. Read (1 John 3:5) (1 Peter 2:22) (2 Corinthians 5:21) (Hebrews 4:15) (Isaiah 53:9) (1 Peter 1:18-19) (1 Peter 3:18) (Hebrews 9:26-28) (Hebrews 10:10, 12) (Romans 6:10) (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
Why do we need Jesus The Savior one may ask? It is because the depravity of our sinful nature and of our sinful hearts is unfathomable. That's why!
Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Romans 7:18 (KJV)
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
John 3:16-18 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son (Jesus), that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son (Jesus) into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 5:24 (KJV)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 6:40, 47 (KJV)
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
John 8:24 (KJV)
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
Acts 16:30-31 (KJV)
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
